OUR REAL DAUGHTERS

By MRS. WILLIAM D. CALDWELL
Recording Secretary National, U. S. D. 1812.

Real Daughters, we’re honored to have you today
With the Flag of our Country unfurled,
The red, white and blue that your fathers loved too,
Is the Flag that is loved ’round the world.

Real Daughters, we’re proud of the title you bear
To the manner, we say you were born,
For you are the jewels of Eighteen and Twelve·
And the real ones, the only ones worn.

This title you wear, as the Flag wears its stars,
For they shine, tho’ all round them is blue,
The white stripes, and red, mean blood that was shed
And ’twas pure blood, the kind that’s in you.

Real Daughters, we bid you thrice welcome today
And we cherish your heroes of war,
May the Flag they unfurled bring peace to the world
And its glory shine forth evermore.

Dedicated to the Real Daughters of 1812.
